Dean Terweduwe is one of the people making sure the servers at Nike’s distribution centres in Belgium stay up and running. It’s a challenging job with real responsibility—exactly why this Cloud & DevOps specialist wanted to work at Tergos.
“If you’re looking to be challenged, Tergos will make sure you’re placed on an assignment that suits you.”
Dean had only just joined Tergos as an IT consultant when he was given the chance to interview for a project at Nike.
“It felt great to be trusted so quickly to go after such an assignment,” he says. “At one point, it was just between me and one other candidate. That was tense—but I was thrilled to learn my first job as a consultant would be with such a large, global company.”
The assignment is no small task: maintaining existing servers, setting up new ones, working closely with the product team, making sure they have the tools they need, coordinating with other teams, and more.
“Nike’s a huge organisation— so everything is double-checked. And that’s good. You don’t want to be the person who accidentally takes down a server and halts an entire distribution centre,” Dean laughs.
And from the way Dean talks about his role, it’s clear: it fits him like a glove. His manager at Tergos saw that too—even though they’d only just met.
Are you up for exciting challenges with Tergos? Let’s connect – you might be the perfect fit for our team of IT consultants.
“Why is Tergos so good at matching consultants with the right jobs? Because they actually listen,” says Dean. “In my very first call with someone from Tergos, we didn’t talk about my CV—we talked about what interests me, what I enjoy in life.”
In Dean’s words, joining Tergos was a no-brainer: “They are open, honest, and they give you the chance to work on different projects. For now, I’m happy at Nike. But I also know: when this project ends, or if I want something else, Tergos will help me find a new challenge.”
At Tergos, IT consultants are not stuck in one role or path. Dean specialises in Cloud & DevOps, but if he wants to explore another area within the company’s expertise, that’s completely possible.
“Tergos encourages us to keep learning and expand our skills. We’re given great opportunities for training. Whether you want to go deep in your current area or branch out into other domains like IT Infrastructure or Cyber Security, they help you grow.”
And that support doesn’t stop at training. Tergos also puts real effort into building a sense of community among its consultants—even though most are placed at different companies.
“There’s still a strong connection. That’s because Tergos brings us together regularly. I’m actually one of the ‘community drivers’—a small group that organises monthly activities. It’s never mandatory, but it’s great when lots of people join. Even if we don’t work side by side, we still feel like colleagues.”
