Security Architect

About the RoleWe are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Security Architect to support a leading financial institution in the Noord-Holland region. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security architectures that align with regulatory requirements and business objectives.You will work closely with IT, risk, and compliance teams to ensure that security is embedded into all layers of the organisation's technology landscape.Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure architecture solutions across applications, infrastructure, and cloud environments
• Translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable security designs
• Ensure alignment with frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and financial regulatory standards (e.g., DNB guidelines)
• Perform threat modeling and security risk assessments on new and existing systems
• Guide development and engineering teams on secure design principles
• Review and approve architecture designs from a security perspective
• Support secure cloud adoption (Azure/AWS) and zero trust initiatives
• Collaborate with stakeholders across IT, risk, and compliance departmentsYour Profile
• Proven experience as a Security Architect within complex environments, preferably in financial services
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS) and architecture methodologies (TOGAF is a plus)
• Experience with cloud security (Azure, AWS) and modern security architectures (Zero Trust)
• Familiar with financial regulations (e.g., DNB, EBA, GDPR)
• Strong understanding of network, application, and infrastructure security
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Fluent in Dutch and English (verbal and written)
• Based in the Netherlands, preferably in or near Amsterdam
• Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, SABSA or TOGAF are a plusWhy Join?
